Fashion Forward: Style Origin’s Fashion Beats

Ramp clear! Models ready! Drum rolls! Lights… action!

As the models wowed the crowd with their beautiful Summer-Spring attire, Rico Blanco was just ‘God-like’ on the stage owning every beat of the music.

Aside from celebrating the day for our Mothers, last May 8 was one spectacular night at the Terraces. Everyone was excited to experience what it’s like to be in a Style Origin Fashion Beats event (I was)…and boy it was awesome!

Let your senses feel the beat as the models catwalk down the ramp.

Of course, as a fashion forward enthusiast whom will be opening my fashion blog soon, I would like to highlight some personal choices of the great brands who participated during the Spring-Summer 2011 Fashion Preview Directed by Jackie Aquino.

Participating brands are as follows:

  • Accesorize
  • Filippo
  • Giordano
  • Girbaud
  • Loalde
  • Nautica
  • Penguin
  • Puma
  • Sketchers
  • Speedo
  • WAGW

April Duenas in Accessorize

Among the great set of clothes, I chose this as a perfect spring-summer attire. The color complimented the model’s skin and gave her the essence of renaissance, which symbolizes spring season. The accessories were perfectly attractive. Simplicity always has its good vibes with fashion.

Hazel Ceniza in Filippo

Perfect mix and match of colors, plus accessories…and just look at those stiletto heels.

Jesubell Retardo in Girbaud

I love the mysterious look of this young lady. If you try to take off the hoodie, you will feel another aura inside her set. I also like the pedal’s accent.

Ingrid Gerodias in Loalde

Not being bias with metallic, but I just love the combination of the metallic-formal set she is wearing. An A+ to the footwear too.

Marco Aranas in Nautica

Love the pants. Love the polo. Perfect casual set for me.

Harold Dee in Penguin

Nice long sleeve! The belt is a bit off for me though.

Eva Patalinhug in Skechers

A perfect sports attire for girls…and the shoes gave a feminine touch to the whole set! Kudos!

Shekina Lasola in Speedo

I always love seeing sporty girls on the go! I love this set!

Make Your Own Havaianas 2010 Brings In Thousands of Aficionados

Last July 30 to August 2, 2010, the mood in SM City Cebu-Northwing Atrium was festive and jubilant. Thousands of people troop not just to shop but also to purchase the hottest and personally conceptualized pair of Havaianas for their traveling feet.

Make Your Own Havaianas 2010 a couple of weeks ago was the fifth, and so far, it never failed to encourage the passion and love of the Cebuanos to this Brazilian brand. In fact, more have been added to the list every year.

The Source of Great Happiness

There are many reasons to love Havaianas. Aside from its stylish designs, it is also well-known for its comfort. However, MYOH moves the love for the brand one notch higher by allowing its die-hard fans to come up with their own concept.

Everyone who participated in the event can take home slippers with Swarovski and silver letter pins. Straps are available in wide variety of colors, and if they were just willing to be more daring, they can pick those that glow in the dark. Of course, the most unique and perhaps what is supposed to be the most picked of them all will be the commemorative pin and sole that has been designed for Filipino Havaianaticos only. These make the affair more “Pinoy,” and everyone can take home a more personalized memento.

More Are Coming

For those who were not able to catch up with the event, though, do not despair. More will surely be coming. Moreover, according to the managing director for Havaianas Philippines, Anne Gonzalez, it is their goal to make each year a better version of the previous. Now should not that be enough reason for you to get excited?

To make sure you can keep tabs on MYOH 2011, visit http://myoh.havaianasphilippines.com/. You can also check out the photos, videos, and other media files related to the affair.

Jewelmer’s Luster for Life

Since its inception in 1979, Jewelmer, a company founded by a French perliculture specialist and a Filipino entrepreneur, has been engaged in South Sea pearl farming with the vision of creating the most lustrous pearls in the world. Thirty years later, Jewelmer continues to be the leading producer of exquisite and rare golden Palawan South Sea pearls and an active participant of international trade fairs as the prominent supplier of Palawan South Sea pearls in the world market.

The company also prides itself in being the only pearl farm company that designs and manufactures fine pearl jewelry, which is a perfect blend of European and Asian artistry and craftsmanship.

Jewelmer’s South Sea pearls come from the pristine marine environment of Palawan, Philippines

Jewelmer operates fine pearl jewelry retail boutiques located in five-star hotels and high-end commercial malls in the Philippines and has trade and retail presence in Dubai, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Paris.

Last June 23 of this year, Jewelmer unveiled the Luster For Life exhibit at the Rotunda, 1st Level Activity Center of Ayala Center Cebu, a popular shopping destination. It is part of what the company calls the “Jewelmer Experience”.

“The Jewelmer Experience engages the senses. It’s everything from the color of our showrooms, the interaction of clients with our people, our imagery, and philosophy. All of these are but a small part of the whole Experience. Its quite difficult to explain. It really should be experienced to be fully appreciated… The Luster for Life exhibit, in particular, shares our brand values in a visual and engaging way.” -Jewelmer’s Retail Manager Catrina Paulino

The Luster for Life exhibit is composed of six main panels: Palawan South Sea PearlsLuster for LifeThe Miracle of the Rare Golden PearlEuropean EleganceAn Environmental Gem, and A Nation’s Pride. Each segment features a combination of vivid imagery and descriptive text. Also included in the exhibit are the actual tools used for pearl cultivation, a pearl diorama, and some unique pieces that are part of Jewelmer’s fine jewelry collections.

Luster for Life

Each Palawan South Sea pearl is composed of thousands of layers of thick, translucent, natural nacre that creates a luster that lasts a lifetime.

The Rivage des Perles Collection by Jewelmer: an exquisite example of the harmonious blend of European elegance and Filipino craftsmanship.

Jewelmer’s Palawan South Sea pearls possess an excellent luster that lasts a lifetime. Often described as an outer sheen or surface brilliance, a pearl’s luster is created when light passes through thousands of layers of nacre, the crystalline substance that makes up a pearl. Due to the translucence and thickness of the natural nacre of Jewelmer’s pearls, the end result is an excellent luster that the company has come to be known for.

The Miracle of the Golden Pearl

Jewelmer is the only pearl producer in the world that has successfully produced pearls with a rich, natural golden color. Through decades of research and biotechnology, Jewelmer was able to perfect the breeding process that produces gold-lipped Pinctada maxima pearl oysters capable of growing large, lustrous, golden pearls. This deep, rich color can only be found in South Sea pearlsproduced in the Philippines.

The European Elegance

Inspired by nature, each piece is a product of east and west working together on such a delightful material, pearl lovers are bound to be always surprised. A team of Italian, French, and Filipino artists draws inspiration from a multitude of sources and creates exquisite designs that enhance the beauty of each pearl. These designs are then executed by highly-skilled Swiss and Filipino goldsmiths and artisans.

Exclusive to the Cebu leg of the exhibit are three South Sea pearl collector pieces: a baroque pearl strand necklace and an eagle brooch. The strand necklace is composed of 49 large, natural silvery-blue baroque South Sea pearls set with 18-karat white gold, while an irregularly shaped, large baroque South Sea pearl inspires the body of an bejeweled eagle made of gold and diamonds. Both of these one-of-a-kind pieces were part of a recently concluded international pearl exhibition held in Qatar, UAE.

Jewelmer pearl farmers carefully tend Pinctada maxima oysters while they grow their precious cargo: the Palawan South Sea pearl.

An Environmental Gem

A lustrous South Sea pearl is the reflection of the health and beauty of theenvironment where it was cultivated. In the face of globally dwindling natural resources, Philippine pearl farmers give back to Mother Nature and become stewards of marine life. Thus, Jewelmer is committed to a unique kind of pearl farming: a non-extractive, environmentally sound process, which ensures that nature remains protected and unexploited.

A Nation’s Pride

The pearl is the Philippine’s national gem, the best representative of a land rich in natural resources as well as people with smiles as warm and welcoming as a golden pearl.

Finally, on October 15, 1996, former President Fidel V. Ramos concretized the pearl’s role in Philippine culture through Presidential Proclamation No. 905. The proclamation acknowledges the South Sea Pearl’s role in the country’s socio-economic & cultural tradition as well as the gem’s part in the promotion of Filipino heritage and as a support of its national development efforts.

Jewelmer continues to share the spirit of the Philippines through the warm, lustrous glow of the South Sea pearl: a true living gem and the pride of a nation.

Cebu is Asia’s Destination for Green Jewelry

The Cebu Fashion Accessories Manufacturers And Exporters Foundation (Cebu FAME Foundation), is launching a second edition to its international “Bijoux Cebu” trade show. BIJOUX CEBU – Spring-Summer 2010 Collection is an international trade exhibition of fashion jewelry and accessories showcasing exclusively Philippine-made products in an event designed to be both commercial and social experience. This will be held on September 26-28, 2009 at the Prestige location of Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu, Philippines.

Bijoux Cebu is the counterpart of CFIF’s CebuX, and is a trade show promoting the Philippine fashion accessories industry to foreign buyers.

This year’s theme is “International Green” and will showcase products for the 2010 Spring-Summer Collection.  The collections are inspired by cultures spanning 5 continents – Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa.

These cultural inspirations will be brought together by Filipino artistry into unifying, high-fashion costume jewelries with international appeal.

“For this year’s event, we are looking at 40 exporters exhibiting at Mactan Shangri-la’s Marquee Ballroom,” Mr. Butch Carungay, Bijoux Cebu Chairman, stated.

“In addition, there will be 70 more exhibitors at the Shangri-la Gardens for the Cash & Carry Exhibit.  This segment shall be open to the public. By holding our own trade show in Cebu, which is the Philippines’ capital of the fashion accessories industry, participation cost is much lower and we can showcase a wider variety of products from more exporters.”

Holding its own show here in Cebu is a very timely move for the foundation and could push the industry to new heights. This is because of the ever-growing global green movement, which drives eco-consciousness into the minds and cultures of most countries worldwide.

Among others, the global green movement calls for using only natural and bio-degradable products, and supporting those manufacturers that also practice social responsibility with regards to environmental preservation.

“The global green movement is a very good fit for Philippine fashion accessories. “We have been making green jewelry for over 30 years, using the vast natural resources found in our country, long before ‘eco-friendly’ became popular.

This is why we are positioning Bijoux Cebu as ‘Asia’s Destination For Green Jewelry’. Everything about our products is green – from the components, to the entire manufacturing process, and even our product labels.”

The 3-day event has a full program in addition to the trade exhibit.  There will be daily fashion shows, design competitions, and social functions for the buyers.

A special craft demonstration area will also be set up to provide buyers with a first-hand look at how our artisans create the costume jewelries.

Bijoux Cebu 2009 is supported by the Export Development Council, Department Of Trade And Industry, Department Of Science And Technology, Department Of Tourism, Department Of Environment And Natural Resources, and Mactan Shangri-la.

The event is organized by Cebu FAME Foundation, PJ Aranador, and Crinnovent Corp.
